Sins of Emission, Commission and Omission

Sins of Emission, Commission and Omission

– the Coalition’s prayer to the electorate

Please forgive my Government for our Climate Change sins.

What have you got?

Sins of Emission:
Carbon dioxide;
Methane;
Nitrous oxide.

Any more sins?

Sins of Commission:
Derision
Opposition
Denying climate change
Quashing the Emissions Trading System
Promoting misinformation
Killing the Carbon Tax
$Dollars for decisions
Abolition of the Climate Commission
Promoting more fossil fuel extraction
Delaying any real climate action
Continued opposition
Opposing any just jobs transition
Speaking up in favour of fossil fuel
Telling the Climate Strike kids to go back to school.
Giving more money to our fossil fuel-loving mates.

(You know that’s one of my pet hates).

The list goes on.

Anything else?

Sins of Omission:
No recognition
No admission
Not daring to dream
Not having an Emissions Trading Scheme
Not stopping more land clearing
Not investing in Nature-Based Solutions
|Not including climate change in approval decisions
Nor in “public interest” recognitions.
No strong and early date for zero Carbon.
(You know, 2050 as a zero date:
It’s really much too late.)
Not setting up a national EV charging system.
Not saying we’d actually have cheaper energy bills
Not enough tilting at wind-power-mills,
Or other renewables.

The list goes on, and on.

Is there Contrition?

Not evident.
Not expected.

Then Government funding will continue to be misdirected.

But please forgive us our Climate Change sins.
